Sir,

I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the

Admiralty to transmit herewith, for the information of the

Secretary of State, copy of a letter dated 14th November

last from the Officer Commanding H.M.S."Sandpiper" and of

its enclosure, relative to piracy in the West River.

A copy of the Commander-in-Chief's remarks on

this subject, dated 20th November No.870/2760, is also

enclosed for information.

A similar letter has been addressed to the

Foreign Office.
